Founder, Charu Mathur is associated with the award winning project of Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) 2016 - ‘Lighting Up lives’ with the alumni team of North India along with TEA alumni Rajesh Majumdar and NGO SPECS (Society of Pollution & Environmental Conservation Scientists), Dehradun. The project focuses on advanced skill development in designing very low cost LED lights. The workshop sessions equip trainees to build a model for use at homes and learn advanced repairing techniques. The mission is innovative in the context of its approach. Introducing best practices in teaching methods is a commitment of Socrates Foundation, and we believe that interaction with peers help teachers to keep abreast of pedagogical advancements. We coordinated with the US Consulate to benefit from the experience of English Language Fellow Dwaine Neyland who was sponsored by the US Department of State. During April 2016, he conducted workshops for 100 teachers from 3 different schools and also a 4-day training program for teachers from Kilbil School, New IndiaSchool&Vikhe Patil School on how to teach English as a Second Language (ESL).

A ‘Cyber Smart Kid Campaign’was organized on 27th & 28th August 2016 for 50 students from 3 different schools of Pune along with their teachers and parents. Sessions on understanding Cyber Literacy and basics of Advertising were conducted for the participating students. These participants took on the role of ‘cyber ambassadors’ & prepared posters and banners on the topics covered during the workshop. Post workshop, these student cyber – ambassadors arranged a campaign in their respective schools and also in one nearby school for under privileged community to create awareness among other students.

In October 2016, thirty-two teachers from 3 schools of Pune were trained as Master Trainers who in turn imparted the best practices learnt during the workshops to their buddy teachers from underserved schools. This 42 hr. in-service Professional Development Program for teachers aimed to equip them with innovative and creative teaching methods which will help them to prepare 21st Century students acquire effective decision-making and problem solving skills, an inquiring mind & attitude, creativity and wisdom.

Founder, Charu Mathur conducted a seminar on ‘Raising Responsible Digital Citizens’ for parents from grade 1 to 12 of Hutchings School, Pune, during September 2016. More than 500 parents attended the seminars. Parents provide the most stable anchor to their children, and therefore the objective of this seminar was to discuss ways in which schools and parents can take joint responsibility and help children develop into well-rounded personalities ready to take the challenges of the 21st Century.
